Pure quality of leather is no doubt expensive. If affording leather furniture is not a problem for you, then you must go for the best quality. A higher grade leather has complete matte texture and is devoid of luster. Lower grade leather is mixed with micro acrylic resins which renders shine to the leather. Leather comes in four different forms, viz, full grain, top grain, corrected grain and split grain. Full grain leather is made up of purest form of hides which has not been snuffed, sanded or buffered. It's also the most durable form of leather and is expensive. Split layers of the hide are separated in top-grain leather variety. Since one layer has been removed, top grain leather is thinner than full grain leather. It also has certain advantages over full grain leather. The former can be maintained and cleaned easily and its price is also less. Corrected leather is given a finish by adding artificial grains. The hide is subjected to treatment for the purpose of producing either pigmented or semi aniline variety. Split leather is also created artificially from the fiber that has been separated from the raw hide. A faux leather sofa is also an alternative for expensive leather sofas. From the differences explained, you can easily make out that top grain leather is preferred mostly by all. You can opt of full grain leather only if price and maintenance are not a botheration for you.
4.Price of the sofa: Fabric upholstery decides the appearance, comfort and price of the velvet settee. Other than this, fluff foam cushions sustain durability while feather cushion padding adds the comforting factor. If you are looking for a more affordable piece, go for the fibre cushion stuffing.
I concur that there are many more styles to choose from out there, but in my opinion, these (particularly the Chesterfield) are those that fit very well into any type of dcor. Now, before we move on, I must specify that many a decorating enthusiast has suffered heartbreak when he/she found the sofa of their dreams, brought it home, and slowly discovered its many flaws within a few months of using it. Which is why, it's not just the appearance, it's the workmanship that has to be looked into, too.
Perhaps the biggest reason you should consider a leather sofa for your home is for the natural warmth it offers. There is a tactile appeal with leather that is really second to none. If you have ever sat on a piece of furniture covered in leather you know what I am talking about. The smooth, soft feel is comforting and warm to the touch. There is just something about it that makes you feel like you are in the lap of luxury. Nothing scratchy, and no irritating feel.
